Irene Flores, RYT

I started learning yoga because I simply needed to breathe!  I had a very hectic life as a corporate event planner and had just been diagnosed with asthma.  I realized at that point that I had to take control of my life before I became dependent on chemicals to do the simplest thing in life… BREATHE!

When I started learning about yoga I wondered if I could “do it”.  I was used to the "cliché" comments such as: “I’m not flexible” or “you really want me to do that”?  Until, I really listened to my body and noticed that I could do it… that there are many levels to the “bending like a pretzel” that took me to a deeper understanding of the benefits of yoga.

My teaching style is gentle, yet strong… you’ll get a great work-out.  I emphasize the breath in each pose so that you become aware of your own limits by connecting your mind with your body with Hatha and Vinyasa Yoga.  My students range from very athletic types to senior citizens to people with illnesses such as MS, Asthma and Hypertension.  I am fully bilingual in Spanish and offer Yoga in Español.

I became certified through the Temple of Kriya Yoga in Chicago and I am registered with the Yoga Alliance. I also teach and am certified in pre-natal yoga.  This coming fall & winter I begin an advanced yoga teacher training with Suddha Weixler at Chicago Yoga Center in Lincoln Park.

The concept of Pura Yoga, which means “pure yoga” in Spanish, came about talking with a friend about my own yoga teaching style and how I would define it:  It’s simple, pure and without boundaries.

I currently teach private and group lessons.  Check out the calendar for itineraries.

Namaste & see you soon!
